If you have a Non-Resident External (NRE) Rupee Checking Account as well as Deposit Accounts:
You can use the Funds Transfer Facility on Citibank Online to transfer funds from your Non-Resident External Rupee Checking Account to a bank account overseas. It is fast, convenient and fee-free. You will receive these funds in your overseas bank account typically within 1-2 business days.
To initiate a funds transfer:
- Login with your user ID and password to access your NRE Rupee Checking Account
- Select ‘Transfers & Payments’
- Select ‘Transfer to Third Party Account’
- Select ‘add New Payee’
- Select Transfer Type as ‘Outside Citibank Network’ and ‘To any bank account across the globe’
- Complete New Payee Details
- You will receive a One Time Password on your registered mobile phone. Please use this OTP to ‘Activate Payee’
- You transfer funds from your NRE Rupee Checking Account to this bank account once you have registered and activated the Payee
For Funds Transfers from your Non-Resident Ordinary Rupee Checking Account or Non-Resident Ordinary Deposits, please refer section under Repatriation.
If you have a Non-Resident External (NRE) Rupee Checking Account and no Deposit Accounts:
You can use the document upload facility on Citibank Online to give us your instructions for to transfer funds from your
Non-Resident External Rupee Checking Account to a bank account overseas. It is fast, convenient and fee-free. You will receive these funds in your overseas bank account typically within 1-2 business days.
To upload your funds transfer instructions using document upload facility:
- Login with your user ID and password to access your NRE Rupee Checking Account
- Select ‘Upload Documents’ from the ‘Submit Documents” tab
- Select your Account and the relevant purpose of upload pertaining to the funds transfer instruction
- Follow on screen instructions and upload the fund transfer instruction
- Note the reference number for your record
- Once submitted you can view the status of your request from the ‘view status’ option from the ‘submit documents’ tab
- If you are unable to upload your documents to Citibank Online, please complete the Funds Transfer Request Form and mail it to Centralized Customer Service Unit or the NRI Center in your country of residence. For our mutual protection, for written instructions mailed to us, our representatives may call you to verify your identify and your instructions prior to executing the instructions. The transfers may be delayed if you are not contactable at the registered telephone numbers on our records.
